ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini for YouTube

People comparing Growati to "AI" usually mean one specific tool, and which one changes the answer a lot. So here is the honest breakdown across the four assistants creators actually ask us about.

The short version: these tools are not interchangeable, and one of them does something the others genuinely cannot.

Gemini is the one that breaks the easy argument

For a long time the simple pitch for a tool like ours was that a chat assistant cannot see your video. That is still true of ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. It is no longer true of Gemini.

Gemini processes video natively, takes YouTube URLs directly, and can point at specific timestamps. Google extended this further at the start of September 2026 with agentic video understanding, which also tracks movement and counts objects across long videos. If you paste a YouTube link into Gemini and ask what happens at 4:32, you get a real answer about the footage rather than a guess from the title.

So if your question is "can AI understand what is in my video," the answer is yes, and Gemini does it well, and it does it cheaper than we do.

What Gemini still does not do is act on the answer. It will tell you a good thumbnail moment exists at 4:32. It will not extract that frame, crop it to 1280×720, compress it under 2 MB, and put it on your video. That gap between describing and doing is the whole of what we build.

Claude is the best writer of the four

For scripts longer than about five minutes, Claude holds tone and pacing better than the others in our experience, and it is what we recommend if you are drafting a script rather than metadata. Paste in a transcript of a video that worked for you and it will write in that rhythm.

Claude has no native video ingestion, so for anything involving the footage it is in the same position as ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is the best generalist

The widest range, the fastest for one-off requests, the best at throwing thirty video ideas at you and arguing about which are worth making. If you only keep one subscription, most creators should keep this one.

For metadata specifically it works fine and the limits are the ones in the table: no footage, no publishing, no memory of your channel as a spec.

Perplexity is a research tool

Worth naming because it comes up in comparisons, but it is solving a different problem. It reads pages and transcripts and cites sources well, which is useful for researching a video. It is not a production tool and does not claim to be.

Where this leaves Growati

Narrower than all four of them. Growati does not write scripts, does not generate ideas, does not answer questions, and does not do research. It starts after your export and handles one stretch of work: reading the file, writing the metadata against your channel's stored rules, building the thumbnail to specification, and publishing it with a review step and a rollback path.

If what you want is understanding of your video, Gemini is genuinely good and costs less. If what you want is the metadata produced, checked and published without you in the loop for each video, that is a different tool, and this is the one.

One caveat on the table above

Model capabilities move faster than blog posts. Gemini's video support changed substantially in the week before this was written, and ChatGPT's file handling has shifted more than once this year.
